Shan Red

Beschrijving

Shan Red is a black tea from the Shan State in Myanmar, grown on mountain slopes at elevations between 1,000 and 1,500 meters at the Mogok Tea Estate. The cool mountain climate and fertile soil create ideal conditions for tea cultivation. The leaves are hand-picked and carefully processed into a distinctive tea.

The infusion is a deep amber, with a softly spiced aroma and delicate floral hints. On the palate, it offers gentle fruitiness balanced with warm, woody notes.

The Shan State has a centuries-old tea tradition, producing both green and black tea using time-honoured methods.

Mogok Tea

At the Five Trees Estate in Mogok, 200 kilometres north of Mandalay in Myanmar, Phyu Thwe started a micro tea factory as a sustainable alternative to the mining that has dominated the region for generations.

All tea is hand-picked across 180 hectares of tea gardens and processed on a small scale. In 2024, Mogok Tea won three awards at the Leafies Awards of the UK Tea Academy.

Tea Kulture

Every remarkable tea begins long before it reaches your cup. It begins in living soil, in mountain mists, in the patient hands of tea masters who have spent generations perfecting their craft. At Tea Kulture, tea is not simply a beverage it is a celebration of nature, culture and human connection.

Working directly with exceptional tea gardens across Asia, Africa and Europe, Tea Kulture brings together rare loose-leaf teas that reflect the unique terroir of their origin. Every harvest tells the story of its landscape, its climate and the people who dedicate their lives to cultivating it with respect for nature. By choosing direct trade, supporting local communities and preserving traditional craftsmanship, Tea Kulture demonstrates that exceptional tea can nourish not only those who drink it, but also the people and ecosystems that make it possible.

At Farmatuur, we believe that a love affair with nature is also a love affair with tea. Every leaf carries the quiet intelligence of the landscape from which it grows, inviting us to slow down, reconnect and appreciate the extraordinary beauty that nature offers in its purest form.
