Organic Uji Matcha - Japanese Origin, Organically Grown

Description

Single-origin matcha from Uji, Japan, made from organically grown, stone-ground tencha

Erbology Organic Uji Matcha belongs to Good Energy: our collection dedicated to mood, vitality and stamina.

Its distinction begins with where and how it is grown: organic tea cultivation in Uji, Japan. For Farmatuur, both matter. The place connects the tea to its origin; the organic certification identifies the growing standards behind it.

Sourced from small organic farms, this single-origin matcha is stone-ground from tencha leaves. Its fresh, grassy flavour has a smooth, almost creamy finish and gentle natural sweetness, beautiful enjoyed simply with water, or whisked into a latte.

Why We Chose This Matcha

  • Organically grown: certified organic cultivation is central to our selection

  • Uji, Japan: a specific origin, clearly identified

  • Single-origin sourcing: a direct connection to the place behind the tea

  • Stone-ground tencha: finely milled for whisking and drinking

  • 100% pure matcha: no additional ingredients

  • Independent testing: tested for heavy metals by accredited third-party laboratories, according to Erbology

  • Small batches, amber glass: carefully packed to help protect the tea from light

Origin Matters. So Does Cultivation.

Our recent visit to Uji made us more attentive to the choices behind a bowl of matcha. For Farmatuur, the word “matcha” alone tells only part of the story. We want to know where the leaves were grown, how they were cultivated and who stands behind their quality.

That is why organic cultivation and a clearly identified Japanese origin matter so much in our selection. This matcha brings those qualities together with the flavour and texture we want to return to every morning.

Good to know

Matcha is unique among green teas because the entire tea leaf is consumed, rather than infused and discarded. This means matcha naturally delivers a higher concentration of bioactive compounds compared to regular green tea.

Scientific reviews highlight matcha as a rich source of catechins, particularly EGCG, as well as L-theanine, caffeine, chlorophyll and polyphenols. Together, these compounds are associated with antioxidant activity and may help protect cells against oxidative stress.

The combination of L-theanine and caffeine is of particular interest. Research suggests this pairing may contribute to a state of calm alertness, supporting focus and mental clarity while avoiding the sharp stimulation often linked to coffee.

Matcha also contains naturally occurring chlorophyll, amino acids and micronutrients, which are influenced by traditional cultivation methods such as shading the tea plants before harvest.

While current findings from laboratory, animal and limited human studies are promising, further human research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms of action and long-term effects of matcha consumption.
